Scoil Bhríde National School, Shantalla, Galway
We have engaged Art Therapy services in our school for the past ten years. We have continued to use this therapy as we feel that it is effective and extremely worthwhile, particularly for those children who struggle to deal with events, emotions, situations that have affected them.
Michelle Gunning came to us highly recommended and has provided this therapy service in our school for the last four years. In that time she has shown herself to be professional, extremely thorough, sensitive, protective and caring to the children. She works with the children, parents, teachers and other relevant persons to help each child work through the therapeutic process towards their own personal resolution. The work space, and the safety and security the room lends to the sessions, is sacred to Michelle and she ensures that it is always just right for each child and their needs. Michelle has shown absolute commitment to her work with our pupils and works with them until they are ready to move on.
It is this attention to detail and that willingness to go that extra mile that makes Michelle and her Art Therapy work such an essential part of our school. We will continue with this work for as long as we possibly can, as long as budgets allow, as it has proven so effective and quite simply, has helped many of our children.
