Ceramic and Kintsugi CPD Course
Using the art of ceramics and the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi, you will be guided through a process of exploration of the self through life's difficulties. We will look in particular at how difficult experiences effect us, shape and mould us. We can often feel bent out of shape and possibly even scarred and marked as a result of these difficult experiences.
There is often a temptation to hide these parts of ourselves from the world but what if we didn't?
What if we celebrated them?
After all don't they too have something to offer?
With the Japanese art of Kinstugi, rather than hide the cracks of a broken pot, the artist will highlight these cracks with gold. After this process the pot often appears even more beautiful than before.
In this course, we will symbolically explore how often life's challenges, once we have found our way through them and back to ourselves, can somehow make us more 'beautiful'. We most definitely gain something through these challenges, once we can face them, experience them and find our way back to ourselves. This powerful process of art making is designed to give you a conscious experience of exactly that - embracing, loving and celebrating those 'broken' parts.
You will leave this course with your own completed ceramic piece with Kintsugi.
This course will run fortnightly, over 5 Sundays; 11am - 5pm.
Dates will be as follows;
Sunday, 6th October 2019
Sunday, 20th October 2019
